Best travel time
Due to the subtropical climate, Egypt can be visited all year round, but the months October to April are considered the best time to travel, as the average daytime temperatures are a pleasant 20-25 degrees. In the summer months it can get very hot, up to 35 degrees and more.

Entry requirements for German citizens
Entry is possible for German citizens with the following documents:

Temporary passport: Yes
Identity card: Yes, but see below

Notes / minimum remaining validity
At the time of entry, travel documents must be valid for at least six months after the trip.
A special immigration card will be issued when entering with an identity card. Two biometric passport photos are required for this.
Visa
German citizens need a visa to enter the country.
The visa can be applied for at an Egyptian diplomatic mission abroad, since December 2017 as an „e-Visa“ or „on arrival“.
It is currently better to apply for a visa „on arrival“ until further notice.
The fee for one-way entry is 25 US dollars (or the equivalent in euros) and is payable at official bank counters or directly to the local tour guide before reaching the passport counter. Deviations from the local fees are possible.

Information on the document requirements for citizens of other countries can be obtained from the respective consulate or diplomatic mission in the country of travel.
